What EverSafe does
Encrypted before it leaves
Files are encrypted on your PC with AES-256-GCM, using a key made from your own password. We never see the password or the key.
Open files included
Outlook data files, accounts databases and anything else in use are backed up too, using Windows Volume Shadow Copy.
Earlier versions kept
Go back to any hour of the last day, then any day before that. Deleted files can be brought back as well.

EverSafe keeps a version every hour for the last day, then one for each day, for as many days as your plan includes. Business plans and above also keep weekly and monthly versions. Pick any of them and put your files back exactly as they were.

Only you can read your backups
Your files are compressed and encrypted on your PC before anything is sent. What reaches our storage is scrambled data that is useless without your key, and your key never leaves your computer.
What we can see

- Your computers' names and Windows versions
- When backups ran, how many files and how much space
- Status and error messages from the app

- Your files or anything in them
- Your file list and file names, which are encrypted too

On your PC
Files are split into blocks, compressed and encrypted with AES-256-GCM. The key is made from your encryption password using Argon2id.

The encrypted blocks travel to us over an encrypted HTTPS connection.

In the data centre
Blocks are stored in an EU data centre. Stored copies are locked for 14 days after they're written, so they can't be changed or deleted in that time.
The trade-off, in plain words
Because we never have your encryption password, we can't reset it. If you lose it, nobody can decrypt your backups, including us. Keep it in a password manager or written down somewhere safe.
If ransomware strikes, your last clean backup is kept safe
Ransomware scrambles your files and counts on your backup copying the damage. EverSafe checks every backup for the signs: a large share of your files changed or deleted at once.
When it sees that, EverSafe:
- keeps your last clean backup for 30 days, whatever your plan's version settings
- stops clearing out older versions until things look normal again
- warns you in the app, so you can restore everything from before the attack

Only changes are uploaded
Files are split into blocks and only new or changed blocks are sent, compressed first. Your first backup takes longest; after that it's quick.
Moving to a new PC
Sign in on the replacement computer and restore all your backed-up files into its folders before it starts backing up.
Deleted files too
Show deleted files on an earlier backup and bring back anything that was removed by mistake.
Restores you can restart
If a restore is interrupted, run it again and EverSafe skips the files that are already back.

Questions people ask first
Is my data really private?
Yes. Your files are encrypted on your PC with AES-256-GCM before upload, using a key made from your encryption password with Argon2id. We never receive that password or the key, so we can't open your files, and neither could anyone who got hold of the stored data.
What if I forget my encryption password?
We can't recover it, and without it your backups can't be decrypted by anyone. Keep it in a password manager or written down somewhere safe. Your sign-in password is separate: if you forget that one, you can reset it from the sign-in page.
Can I back up more than one computer?
Yes. Personal covers 3 computers, Pro covers 5, and Business, Enterprise and Ultimate have no limit. All your computers share your plan's storage, and you can see them in your online account.
How do I get my files back?
Open the EverSafe app, choose Restore, pick the date and time you want, then select files or folders. You can put them back where they were, into this PC's matching folders, or into a folder you choose.
Can I cancel?
Yes, at any time from your online account. Backups carry on until the end of the period you've paid for. Cancelling doesn't delete your backups. If you want them removed, delete your account and everything is permanently erased 15 days later.
