Getting Started

  1. Download the installer from our download page
  2. Run the installer and follow the prompts
  3. Create your account or sign in
  4. Set your encryption password (keep this safe!)
  5. Select the folders you want to backup
Your encryption password is used to derive the key that encrypts your files. This is different from your account password. It's critical that you remember this password - without it, your files cannot be decrypted, even by us. We recommend storing it in a password manager.
We recommend backing up your Documents, Pictures, Desktop, and any other folders containing important personal files. By default, EverSafe excludes system files, program files, and temporary files to save space. You can customize which folders to include in Settings.

Backup

By default, EverSafe runs in continuous mode - it monitors your files for changes and backs up new or modified files as soon as they're detected. You can also configure scheduled backups to run at specific times if you prefer.
Your first backup needs to upload all your files, which can take time depending on the amount of data and your internet speed. Subsequent backups are much faster because EverSafe only uploads changes. You can check progress in the app and pause/resume as needed.
Yes! EverSafe uses Windows Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) to backup files that are locked or in use. This includes Outlook PST files, databases, and other files that applications keep open.
Go to Settings in the EverSafe app and look for "Exclusions". You can add specific files, folders, or patterns (like *.tmp) to exclude. Common exclusions like temporary files and caches are already configured by default.

Restore

  1. Open EverSafe and click "Restore"
  2. Use the calendar to select the date you want to restore from
  3. Browse and select the files or folders you want
  4. Choose to restore to the original location or a new location
  5. Click "Restore" and wait for the download to complete
Yes! EverSafe keeps multiple versions of each file (up to 30, depending on your plan). When restoring, you can browse the version history for any file and restore any previous version.
Yes! Install EverSafe on your new computer, sign in with your account, and enter your encryption password. You'll then have access to all your backed-up files and can restore them to your new computer.

Account & Billing

Log in to your account dashboard at eversafe.cloud and go to Subscription. You can upgrade to a higher plan at any time - you'll be charged the prorated difference for the remaining billing period.
You can cancel anytime from your account dashboard. Go to Subscription and click "Cancel Subscription". You'll continue to have access until the end of your billing period. Your data will be retained for 30 days after cancellation.
After cancellation, you'll have access until your billing period ends. Your backed-up data is then retained for 30 days, during which you can reactivate your account to restore access. After 30 days, your data is permanently deleted.
Unfortunately, due to our zero-knowledge architecture, we cannot recover your encryption password or decrypt your files without it. Your encryption key is derived from your password and never leaves your device. This is why we strongly recommend storing your encryption password in a secure password manager.
